(1) Do you watch reality television? Why or why not?
The only reality-TV type show I watch is “Hoarders.” Maybe because it’s so closely aligned with my own reality. Have you seen the unfortunate state of my basement?
(2) What are your thoughts on e-publishing?
It’s a force all its own. It blows the doors off of traditional publishing and the way in which books and articles used to be prepared for print. Its advantages are many: new platforms, wider audiences, cheaper costs, ease of access, etc. But there are pitfalls, too. Once you’ve self-published an article(or posted it to your blog), for instance, we, traditional print runners, are not typically interested in purchasing the 2nd rights to publish that piece, so you lose your chance to sell your article to a bigger outlet. And maybe I’m confusing e-pub with self-pub, but from what I’ve gathered, they’re closely linked. One more thing, I’d be remiss to mention that e-pub has the reputation of being lower quality in terms of editing and fact-checking. We’re very rigorous in our editorial process, which produces a more polished product.
(3) Which do you prefer? Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook. Probably because it’s a seemingly better representation of people, their worldview and what they love most in life. As I see it, Twitter only offers snippets of famous quotables, witty one-liners, self-promotion and has become a trail of hashtags. #notinterested
