Kelly Ann Riley

Today we welcome Kelly Ann Riley, inspirational romantic suspense & mystery writer, to 3 Questions Wednesday.

(1) Do you watch reality television? Why or why not?

Kelly: I generally don’t watch reality television. I usually prefer fictional stories over reality when I want to be entertained. I’m not saying that reality television isn’t entertaining, but I like escaping reality at times, if you know what I mean. Sometimes I do get caught up in a reality show if I happen to come across an interesting episode while channel surfing.  I did follow a couple series at one time, one being Married to Jonas because the show reminds me of a very special moment.  My daughter was crazy about the Jonas Brothers and I was on the road taking her to their concert when I got the call from my agent that the editor from Love Inspired Suspense wanted to buy my first book, Firestorm.  Not only was my daughter thrilled to be at the concert, but I was celebrating a major milestone in my life and a dream come true.

(2) What are your thoughts on e-publishing?

Kelly: I think in some ways e-publishing is fabulous. It has opened a bigger market than could not be provided by traditional publishing in the past. I like being able to download a book instantly when the mood strikes me. E-Books don’t add to the piles of printed books in my already crowded house. However I still love printed books best. There is something really satisfying about the feel of a book in my hands and cracking open the pages to a new adventure.  Bookstores continue to be one of my favorite places to linger in, and it’s just not the same as shopping online for e-books.  Also printed books are easier to lend to friends. You don’t have to worry about running out of battery power during the climax of the book. Also, dropping a six dollar printed novel while reading in the bathtub or floating in the pool does not cause the same anguish as dunking an iPad.

(3) Which do you prefer? Facebook or Twitter?

Kelly: I like both Facebook and Twitter, but I tend to spend more time on Facebook. I enjoy the added space to be able to express thoughts and upload photos. I’ve appreciated how Facebook has allowed me to connect with old friends that I had lost contact with. It’s also great fun to be connected with readers and other writers and get glimpses of each other’s lives. You can follow me on Facebook at My Twitter address is

  1. Kelly, I suspect a lot of viewers didn’t figure out how to leave a reply. I am happy to learn more about you. I also prefer fiction TV shows to reality shows, especially those super-competitive ones like Survivor, which I cannot stand. Of course, even better is a good book. ☺

  2. I really enjoyed the interview. I would love to read her book. Her book sounds fantastic. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway. Please enter my name in the giveaway.

  3. Hi Caroline, You could be right about the viewers. It took me a while to figure out that I had to click the bubble to get to the comment section. And I’m with a you, a good book beats a television show. Thanks for dropping by.

  4. Great interview, Kelly! And add my name to those who prefer their drama on the fictional side – although there’s often not a whole lot of real on those reality shows. LOL
