Morgan Moon, a twenty-three-year-old trailblazer from North Alabama, graduated from Calhoun Community College in May of 2014 with a computer programming degree. With the help of a mentor, she gained a better knowledge of design and marketing. She now owns her on business “Morgan Moon Creative Services”. Morgan also enjoys working at church with various ministries such as Spanish ministry, youth ministry, and the worship team as well.
Need some assistance with building and maintaining a website, an email newsletter, or designing your own logo? If you’re struggling like I was, Morgan can help. So I asked her a few questions…
First, tell our readers three things about yourself.
- I am a proud follower of Jesus. I spend a lot of my time helping at church with the youth, Worship team, leading Spanish ministry, and helping with any other events our church may be having.
- I am a musician. I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old. Since then I have also learned to play the piano and bass guitar.
- My first nephew will be making his appearance at the beginning of May!
Why did you decide to pursue a career in this field?
I have always enjoyed working with computers and I also love the area of design. I have a degree in Computer Programming and have always been interested in website design. In May 2014 the owner of the business Arrow Concepts took me under his wing and taught me how to run my own business. I am blessed for the opportunity to do something I love, helping businesses, non-profit organizations, writers, and churches expand their presence by providing unique websites, social media and email marketing, logos, etc. to reach their target audience.
Why do people find it so hard to professionally build a website, blog, or newsletter?
A lot of business owners, writers, etc., that I come in contact with are frustrated with online marketing because they are trying to do it on their own with no training. Website updates, blogging, and sending newsletters can be made easier with a few training sessions. Once I build a website, I offer to do updates for a monthly fee, or I can train them to update their website with new products, change the written content if needed, and/or pictures. Websites, blogs, and newsletters can be complicated when trying to do it on your own, but having an online marketing consultant makes things a lot clearer.
What makes a website/blog/newsletter attract attention to the viewer?
The design of the website/blog/newsletter is the first thing that should grab the viewer’s attention. The website should have a nice, clean look to it. The colors that are used in the design should compliment one another instead of work against each other. Viewers are attracted to websites/blogs/newsletters that are easy to navigate. For example, when viewers are visiting a website and are wanting to read about a business, they do not want to have to spend a long time trying to figure out where that written content is located.

What are the advantages of hiring someone to help, compared to do-it-yourself templates?
While do-it-yourself templates may seem to be the cheapest option, it may not be the best option for you long term. Hiring a web designer from the beginning will save you money in the end. Even if you want to use a drag and drop platform for your website, a website designer can set your website up in away that is effective to reach your target audience. They can also help you place your content on the correct pages and line up your written content, photos, and other components so your website looks nice and neat.
When it comes to building a website, we use 2 types of platforms. The first is a “drag and drop” platform. These websites can be built at a faster pace and also can be priced at a cheaper rate. The second platform is WordPress. WordPress websites are more customizable in some areas, but the main advantage of WordPress sites are they have better SEO (Search Engine Optimization) value.
What other computer services do you provide for your clients?

For a monthly fee, this package offers the following services per unit: Virus Removal, Malware Removal, Spyware Removal, Adware Removal, Trojan Removal, Driver Updates, Laptop Repair, Desktop Repair, PC Tune-Ups, Hardware Troubleshooting and Installs, Software Troubleshooting and Installs, Network Troubleshooting, Web Hosting Plans, and more!
Anything else you’d like to say regarding your field?
Outside of the online and computer services, I also offer photography, recording short video commercials (that can be loaded to social media pages, websites, youtube, etc.), and signage. While my business focuses more on online marketing, we also encourage traditional marketing. I design business cards and signage to promote businesses, events, products, etc.
