The Spirit of Christmas

Slide8By Betty Boyd

The true meaning of Christmas for me is the power of the birth of Christ. It’s in the waiting for His birth that gives me strength. It’s preparing my heart for the coming of the Lord.

I enjoy knowing that our Savior was not just sent for me, but for all people. I relish the time before Christmas Day; Advent, a time for preparation. I take the time to slow down, in this hectic holiday season. I want to get to know my Lord better, and have a deeper relationship with Him.

Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection. ~Winston Churchill

Oftentimes, during the Christmas season, we are not afforded this opportunity, but for me, I can be more in the moment with Jesus. Jesus is born my heart. The Christmas season is one of anticipation, reflection, and a calling to wait for the Lord.

I’m full of expectations on the birth of Jesus and the deeper meaning that Christmas holds for me. The beauty of His majesty and glory are unsurpassed. Once Christmas Day arrives, I know that the waiting and preparation are all worth it.

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (Corinthians 9:5)
