3 Questions Thursday with Mary DeMuth

Happy Thursday! And no, you’re not seeing a typo. We’ve had  so many good books we’ve wanted to share in December that we added a few extra days. 🙂

Mary DeMuth is the author of more than thirty books, including her latest: Jesus Every Day (Harvest House Publishers, 2017).  She also sends out poignant monthly ezines with prayers that always touch my heart…

Now Mary, here’s your first question:

What inspires you?

Mary: I’m inspired by nature when I run, good design (I love Instagram for that reason), an amazing meal prepared by someone who loves me, and deep, long-lasting friendships. In terms of writing books, I’m mostly inspired by my readers. I wrote Jesus Every Day because my readers asked me to write itFor years, I’ve been praying for my readers in my monthly ezines. I ask them this: Mind if I pray for you? Those little prayers, it turns out, touched many folks. And now I have a daily resource for them that walks them through the whole Bible and prays Scripture for every day.

They’ve definitely touched this reader’s heart. 🙂

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Mary:  Most likely periwinkle—a purply blue. My whole life I’ve loved blue, another reason why I love to run outdoors. In Texas, you almost always get to see blue skies. Having grown up in Seattle, I didn’t always have that. The best blue I’ve known is the deep, penetrating blue of the Mediterranean Sea. My family and I used to live outside of Nice, France. We were church planters there for almost three years. The loveliest part of the Mediterranean is its high salt content, making swimming and floating incredibly easy.

A great choice! Blue is often associated with depth and stability. Last question:

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Mary: I wanted to be a doctor. Mainly because I wanted to help people feel better. Interestingly, that IS what I love to do now, except that words are the medicine I dole out. I love to see people set free from traumatic pasts so they can live a new story today.

What a wonderful aspiration! Thanks so much for dropping by, Mary.
