3 Questions Wednesday with Bethany Morehead

Bethany Morehead

Happy Wednesday!

This morning we welcome award-winning writer and Jr. Agent of Cyle Young at Hartline Literary Agency, Bethany Morehead. Readers, be sure to leave Bethany a comment for a chance to win a $25 gift card from Amazon. Woo Hoo!

Bethany, here’s your first question.

Can you describe yourself in three words?

Quirky, Childlike, and Genuine.

Quirkiness shows originality. I like that! 🙂  Next question…

Someone offers you a fully-paid writing research trip to any place you desire to go. Where would it be and why?

The Highlands of Scotland. There is an area called Farr, Scotland—which is my maiden name. It would not only be fantastic to see a piece of ancestry, but to be able to write about it as well would be a dream.

Scotland would make the perfect setting for a book. Now…

If someone made a movie of your life, what would be the theme song?

“Que Sera Sera; Whatever Will Be, Will Be” by Doris Day. This question was one of the hardest for me to answer. After listening to close to every song on Spotify, I keep coming back to this classic by one of my favorite actresses. In a world where there is so much worry about what the future holds, it reminds us that the future is not written by us. I feel it would be a great theme song to my life, being as my life hasn’t panned out to “my perfect plan,” but I’m not writing my story, am I? The Author holds the pen, and I trust Him with it. So, whatever will be, will be.

I’m a fan of Doris Day and the song! Yes, God holds the pen in His hand and it is His story. Bethany, thank you for joining us on Inspired Prompts. It was a pleasure to meet you.

Readers–don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the $25 Amazon gift card!

  1. I love how this message coordinates with the message today on Heart”wings” blog to not worry, and the Heart”wings” devotion that we listen without hearing. We know the Bible tells us to be anxious for nothing but we often don’t obey it and cast all our cares on Him. I especially love this line that Bethany said, “In a world where there is so much worry about what the future holds, it reminds us that the future is not written by us.” The world teaches us to worry, but God’s Word transforms our minds to trust Him – if we listen and hear Him. Thank you for this wonderful 3 Questions Wednesday! I always look forward to them.

  2. I like that choice of song. I tend to have that outlook on life as well. And I agree with the Highlands of Scotland! I like to think I’d want to go there in the winter, but reality is, I don’t really know what winter is, having grown up in Southern California and living in Florida now. I’m FREEZING today, and it is in the 50s. 🙂

    • Good morning, Phyllis. I live in Georgia and, at the moment, it’s snowing. We never get snow here. I’m freezing, too. Hope things return to normal in a day or two. For now, I’m enjoying the snow! Thanks for commenting!

  3. Genuine is a great way to describe yourself! I’m so glad that while God was writing the pages of your story, he allowed us to collide and have a genuine friendship. Miss you friend.

  4. “Que Sera, Sera” is a beautiful song. It’s featured in “The Man Who Knew Too Much”. What could be more frightening than to have your child kidnapped, knowing that the perpetrators would most likely murder him!
I realize that God is sovereign. But it surely is difficult to internalize that concept when traveling through times of tribulation.
Jesus promised that we would have tribulations in this world. (John 16:33). Thank God that Christ has overcome the world.

  5. Thanks for the reminder that we’re not writing our own story. Boy, what a blessing that is, to know a “greater hand” guides our steps, falls, and re-starts! Doris Day…I’m of her era, and it’s fun to think you’d choose her and Que sera, sera. Glad to meet you here, Bethany.

  6. So nice to meet you, Bethany! I had the opportunity to meet your hubby in Cincinnati. I was at a conference with Rhonda Rhea and tagged along for a breakfast meeting at The Taste of Belgium (yum!). My newly engaged daughter has been following your vlog. 🙂

  7. Hey Bethany, It is a pleasure meeting you! Thank you for reminding us that our story is still being written. We will have a glorious ending!
