Good morning! Today, Dawn Owens is answering our three questions. Dawn is the author of Like Me Or Not: Overcoming Approval Addiction. And don’t we all struggle a little with that? 🙂
Good morning, Dawn. Can you describe yourself in three words?
Dawn: Passionate. Compassionate. Vulnerable.
Great words. That vulnerable thing can be tough … Next question:
Someone offers you a fully-paid writing research trip to any place you desire to go. Where would it be and why?
Dawn: London. I love it and I know I would be inspired to write as the city always makes me want to come back again for more.
Oh, I would love to go to England but I want to explore the countryside. It would be inspirational. Final question . . .
If someone made a movie of your life, what would be the theme song?
Dawn: The first song that came to mind was Mandisa’s “Overcomer”. I have been through A LOT in my life. It can almost feel like I get hit with something new to learn how to deal with at least once a year. But God says I am an overcomer and so I keep going. Regardless of my circumstances believing I am living to give glory to Him.
“Overcomer” is a wonderful song. Readers, click on the link to listen.
Dawn, thank you for sharing your time and yourself with us today on Inspired Prompt. It was a pleasure talking with you.
Readers: Dawn is giving away an audio book. Leave a comment for a chance to win Like Me Or Not.
Everyone craves approval, but when that desire becomes an addiction where nothing is ever good enough, it is time to step off the hamster wheel of people pleasing and seek the only approval you really need — God’s.
There is a difference between being someone other people like and being defined by what others think. Some people are so addicted to approval that their lives spiral out of control creating discontent, depression, and alienation. Recovering approval addict Dawn Owens identifies all the ways craving approval can negatively impact our lives, and offers sound, biblical strategies to overcome them. Using her own and other’s stories as relatable examples, Owens shares the journey to an identity found only in Christ.
Dawn is an author, speaker, radio show host and the Founder/Executive Director of The Link of Cullman County. When she’s not pursuing one of these roles she is totally content as serving her family which includes her husband Chris and wanna-be scientist son, Sawyer.
