Welcome to 3 Questions Wednesday! Today Inspired Prompt welcomes June Foster. Thanks for taking the time to join us.
Who is your favorite author?
Jerry Jenkins is a great author, and the Left Behind series really made us all think! Next question…
If you could write about anyone or anything fiction/nonfiction who or what would you write about?
June: My husband and I recently spent a month in southwestern Colorado and explored the Mesa Verde Indian Pueblo ruins. A small ruin sits at the top of a hill adjacent to the Canyon of the Ancients Visitor Center about twenty miles away. The partially excavated pueblo is called the Escalante Ruins, named after its Spanish explorer. We explored the area more than once, and I imagined a tale about a young Indian woman who might’ve lived there. I would love to write a story about a maiden who hungers to know a God who created all things but is misunderstood by the chief, her father.
Traveling to new areas and exploring new cultures is a great way to cultivate stories. Last question:
If you could spend time with a character from your book or another book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?
June: I would love to spend time with Mary Louise from Dreams Deferred. The story is the fictionalized tale of my great grandfather who became a Catholic priest then met my great grandmother. I’d like to ask Mary Louise what it was like falling in love with a man she thought she could never have. We’d go to lunch in San Antonio at one of the famous hotels and walk the River Walk, all the while talking about Matt Hall, the man she loves.
What a day that would be! Thanks for stopping by. It’s good to get to know you better.

Frances Matthew Hall is obedient to family tradition: all firstborn sons will serve as a priest. Now Matt officiates at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. But when on Easter Sunday, he notices a beautiful young woman who takes his breath away, he must fight against his attraction to her or leave the priesthood and alienate his entire family.
Mary Louise Graham is a middle school teacher and devout catholic. Yet no amount of service to the community can ease the heavy load of guilt she carries. God can never forgive her unspeakable mistake. But when Father Matt tells her about a forgiving God through His son Jesus Christ, she’s free. Only thing, the Godly priest now means more to her than he should.
Can two people find their way to each other amidst insurmountable obstacles? Dreams Deferred is inspired by the author’s great grandfather and great grandmother’s story.
