3 Questions Wednesday with Tanya Eavenson

Happy Wednesday! Today the Inspired Prompt welcomes inspirational romance author, Tanya Eavenson. We’re so happy you could join us. First question:

Who is your favorite author?

Tanya: I’m not sure I have a favorite … although I can list a few authors I read often. Let’s see, Karen Witemeyer, Robin Hatcher, Laura Frantz, and Elizabeth Camden. However, reading, for me, started with Lori Wick’s series, The English Garden. I love the biblical aspects of her stories and how the characters feel like family. After reading the series, I knew the Lord was calling me to write. What an impact she has had on my life–God using her writing to take this non-writer to published author.

Wonderful authors! We will keep a lookout for Lori’s books.  Next question…

If you could write about anyone or anything fiction/nonfiction who or what would you write about?

Tanya: If I had to write about anyone or anything, I’m not sure I would change from what I’m doing now. I love watching my characters come to life on the page and putting them in situations where they need to cling to the Lord, just like us. It’s where fiction and non-fiction collide, with the realization that we all need a Savior. When my characters point to Jesus, and a reader needs to hear those words at that moment, it’s all the more reason to continue the journey the Lord has set before me.

Great answer. 🙂 Last question:

If you could spend time with a character from your book or another book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

Tanya: Ooh, I’d enjoy spending time with Trent, the hero from my new release, The RESCUE, and his cowhands, Matthew, Blake, and Pete. They can poke fun at each other but are extremely loyal and willing to risk it all to protect one another, and those they love.

What would I be doing? Hanging out at the ranch, of course! 😊

Sounds like a fun and rewarding day. Thanks so much for dropping by!

Kisses, Kids and Bundles of Joy

Today we’re going to meet a few of the gals from the new box set of Christian winter romances called Kisses, Kids and Bundles of Joy. Please welcome, Tanya Eavenson, Liwen Y. Ho, and Cindy Flores Martinez .

Hi, ladies! How long have you been writing?

Tanya: I’ve been writing since 2007.

Cindy: I published my first novel two and half years ago.

Liwen: I started blogging and writing freelance articles 4 years ago and writing fiction 2 years ago.

Cindy, why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?

Cindy: I started writing fiction because I had a romantic comedy screenplay that I wrote and tried to produce as a film. When I didn’t find the success I wanted, I decided to turn it into a novel. Since then, most of my stories have been romantic comedy because it’s just the easiest genre for me to write. My thoughts and personality are a lot like those of my characters. I’ve tried to write other genres, but it’s always a struggle and it makes me feel as if I’m not being myself.

Tanya, what are some of the references you used while researching your book?

Tanya: The setting for To Gain a Mommy is in Florida where I grew up. Living in the ‘Sunshine State’ we visited many beaches but Melbourne was the one we’d spent the most time since it was less touristy. When I first came up with the storyline, I needed a venue to hold my Death by Chocolate fundraiser. I ended up doing a Google search for wedding venues and fell in love with The Courtyard at the Oaks. I contacted the owner, Mark Petroni, and after he sent me several pictures of the facility, I knew it was perfect. How perfect? You’ll have to read the novella! =)

Liwen, what did you enjoy most about writing this book?

Liwen: The thing I enjoyed most about writing my story was how different it was from the other books I’ve written. I chose to write about what happens after the “happily ever after”, specifically about a married couple’s ups and downs. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed showing how a relationship changes and grows over time and how God can redeem a marriage, even one that seemed beyond repair.

Tanya, what do your plans for future projects include?

Tanya: I still plan on publishing contemporary romance novels as well as novellas, but I’m changing gears slightly to include historical romance. I’m working on a series of novels set in the late 1800’s. The first novel in the ALL ROADS LEAD TO TEXAS series is called The Rescue which will be releasing spring 2017! Each heroine has circumstances that will drive them to a small town in Texas. This series has been such an adventure to write and I’m looking forward to introducing them to my readers.

Thanks so much, ladies, for dropping by!

3 Questions Wednesday with Tanya Eavenson

Tanya Eavenson3 Questions Wednesday welcomes  inspirational romance author, Tanya Eavenson. Don’t miss the opportunity to win a kindle copy of her latest book, Restored. You’ll find the details below. But first, find out her answers to our 3 questions…

What books have fortified you as a writer? How?

Tanya: About ten years ago, God was calling me to write, but it wasn’t until I read Lori Wick’s series The English Garden that I began to write. I can still recall the Biblical truths I read and how it applied to me then as it does today. Stepping out in faith isn’t only in words, but in actions.

Secondly, there’s a children’s book entitled Tell Me About Faith by Joel Anderson that the Lord used as a confirmation a year later. I was struggling to know how to go about being published, who to speak with and was starting to get discouraged. I remember sitting with a room full of children reading this story about faith, hope, and trusting God. It literally brought tears to my eyes. The Lord says that we must come to Him like little children, and there I was, needing to surrender it all, believing by faith and not by what I could see.

Thirdly, the Bible has brought me strength and comfort at various times during my writing career. It’s wonderful how God gives us a peek into the lives of people like Moses, Gideon, Elijah, David, Peter, Paul, James, and so many more. Faith was a theme in all their lives during the good and not so good times. They all had strengths and weaknesses and God used each of them mightily for His glory. It’s not in myself that I write, but in Him, through faith.

Great choices, especially the last one. Now…

What secret talents do you have?

Tanya: I had two secret talents that I didn’t know of until I stepped out in faith and did it. Writing and teaching. The Lord guides and directs because He knows us better than we know ourselves.

He sure does! Last question:

If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?

Tanya: I love to cook, but what I prepare would depend on what you’d liked to eat. Stuffed pork chops, grilled salmon on cedar planks, or if you preferred something Southern, I’ve got you covered! I’d cook anything your heart desired! Desserts included! =)

Put me down for the salmon and maybe some chocolate pie 🙂 Thanks, Tanya, for stopping in…

Tanya Eavenson

Today we welcome Tanya Eavenson, author and blogger, to 3 Questions Wednesday.

(1) Do you watch reality television?

Tanya: I don’t watch reality television.

Why or why not?

Tanya: I much rather write to be honest. I’m editing a novel right now and trying to finish writing another for my publisher so TV is the last thing on my list. Besides, the best reality show is when my hero and heroine talk to me. LOL!

(2) What are your thoughts on e-publishing?

Tanya: Interesting question. I hear and read a lot about the subject, good and bad. Personal I think it’s great. It gives authors and readers options.

(3) Which do you prefer? Facebook or Twitter?

Tanya: At first I didn’t care for FB. It was odd to share personal information with others I didn’t know. Then promote yourself? I felt almost like an infomercial to my friends and family where they couldn’t turn the channel. But that all changed a month ago when I started an author page. Now I can promote anything I like including my new release Unconditional.
I still do a little on my other account, but its great fun on an author page! I can give away stuff for free—if you act now! =)
But there’s something about Twitter that I LOVE. Maybe it has to do with the 140 characters. Maybe it’s connecting in ways FB can’t. I’ve spoken and built relationships with people on Twitter that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I read great devos, scriptures, blog posts, and find out about new releases within minutes. I enjoy sharing it all, too. So I’d have to say Twitter has my vote.

Thanks, Tanya, for joining us on 3 Questions Wednesday!

Remember. Leave a comment to enter to win an ebook copy of Unconditional.
